Help for Haiti…and Holyoke
HCC has a long history of generosity in response to suffering in our community and around the world. From now through February 12, Student Activities will be accepting contributions to assist the people of Haiti. Funds will be directed to Partners in Health, an organization that has been providing medical care to Haitians for 20 years, and Save the Children, which also has a long history in Haiti and is providing food, water, shelter, and child-friendly spaces for Haiti’s children. Both organizations’ facilities were undamaged in the earthquake. They have been inundated by the injured and traumatized, and are desperately in need of supplies. Please note that contributions are tax-deductible, and both receive the highest rating from www.charitynavigator.org. For those interested in organizing to do more for Haiti, there will be a planning meeting on Thursday, January 28, at 2 p.m. in the Student Activities office.
Closer to home, the Student Senate’s food/blanket/coat drive for Margaret's Pantry in Holyoke is in need of donations. Please bring non-perishable food items, winter coats for adults and children, and blankets to Student Activities by February 5. Why the short turn around?? It's cold NOW. The pantry is especially interested in meals in cans, such as chili, canned meats, and soups.
As always, thanks for your generous support, for Haiti and Holyoke.
