There has been changes in the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement that completely eliminate Evacuation Day and Bunker Hill Day Holidays for ASFCME employees, while providing those AFSCME employees on the payroll as of January 17, 2012 with two additional personal days instead.

For AFSCME employees, Evacuation Day and Bunker Hill Day are regular workdays.  Individuals who wish to take those days off must request to use personal leave, vacation, or previously earned compensatory time. Non-unit Classified will follow the AFSCME contract.

Accordingly, based on the current statutory language, the College should be open for business on Evacuation Day, March 17, 2012 (as well as Friday, March 16, 2012) and Bunker Hill Day, June 18, 2012.

Non-unit professional, and MCCC professional staff should report to work on their regularly schedule days.  For this year, they may take a day off either on that date or another date with advance approval.

Non-benefited employees including non-benefited MCCC professional staff are expected to report to work and be paid as usual.  Any request for time off requires prior approval and if a non-benefited MCCC professional has all purpose leave available, it may be used.
