CVTE (Career/Vocational Technical Education)

Career Vocational Technical Education Secondary/Post-Secondary Linkages Initiatives (formerly known as Tech Prep)

Are you a high school student trying to discover your talents and plan for a career? CVTE Linkages offers you a head start on college-and saves you money. Various offerings prepare you for technologically advanced careers and helps you make a smooth transition from high school to college. You'll take classes-at your own high school-that earn you college credits toward an associate degree or certificate at HCC. After graduating from high school, you'll then enroll at HCC to continue your CVTE studies.

Perkins CVTE Secondary/Post-Secondary Linkages Initiative connects high school vocational programs with colleges and other post-secondary career and technical education programs. The Initiative is funded through Perkins IV. The focus of our work is to transition high school students from participating schools into post-secondary programs. Students are counseled into course sequences in chosen career pathways that smoothly transition to college, apprenticeship or technical institutes. The focus of the initiative is to provide the following services:

  • Program of Study Grids
  • Articulation Agreements
  • Early College Placement Testing
  • Career Planning
