REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of full time, or equivalent part-time experience in an office setting. Specifications; computer literate with excellent word processing; accuracy; good math skills; ability to maintain confidential files and sensitive student information; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; team player; ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree or certificate; experience with data information systems and spreadsheet applications. Bilingual (English/Spanish); experience in an educational institution is a plus. CLERICAL/CUSTOMER SERVICE General Statement of Duties: Performs a variety of responsibilities in support of the Advising Center and provides good customer service to students. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting individuals in person and on the phone, collecting intake information, setting appointments, completing forms, filing and copying. Responsibilities: 1. Provide good customer service as a receptionist and answering telephones, assist and refer current and prospective students to appropriate staff or departments on campus. 2. Acquire broad knowledge of the college, be self-directed and able to multi-task. 3. Work as a team player in a fast-paced environment when necessary. 4. Handle new student files and records in accordance with a prescribed classification and policy; respect student privacy. 5. Have proficiency with BANNER and HCC On-line Services or experience with a comparable database management system. 6. Input student schedules, prepare paperwork for student testing and advising, and maintain, update and order supplies of relevant enrollment forms. 7. Maintain computer-based calendars (i.e. Lotus Organizer or Microsoft Outlook). 8. Work collaboratively with clerical staff, workstudies, and academic advisors in Advising Center. 9. Work collaboratively with Admissions, the Welcome Center and Test Administrator for student enrollment purposes. 10. Perform general office duties as assigned.
