Degree and from where
it was received:
Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Vermont
Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from San Francisco State University
Courses you teach:
All math courses, but statistics is my favorite.
Accomplishments (personal or professional):
* Completed 13 marathons, including the 100th Boston Marathon (in
1996) with a marathon PR of 3 hours, 8 minutes.
* Received the award for outstanding student club advisor at HCC
* Legally married my same-sex partner on May 28, 2004
Favorite thing about teaching:
My favorite thing about teaching occurs at the end of each semester
when my students submit their statistics course projects. I find
that the act of collecting, interpreting and presenting their own
data enhances the student's experience in my class and helps each
student appreciate how statistics are used in the world around them.
Memorable moment at HCC:
Halloween of 2006 when I came to HCC dressed as the Wicked Witch
of the West and all of my students kept saying to me, "Nice
outfit, but where's your costume?"
Teaching philosophy:
EVERYONE CAN SUCCEED!
