| Degree and from where
it was received:
St. Anselm College: BA in English
Boston College: MA in English
Courses you teach:
English 097, 096, 101, and 102. And I will have a topics course,
in the fall, on the "worker in American LIterature."
Accomplishments (personal or professional):
I have two great sons--ages 12 and 15, who make me laugh a lot and
give me reasons to enjoy each day. I am also very proud of being
a part of the HCC English department---such great people.
Favorite thing about teaching:
I love helping people feel good about reading and writing--even
if they never pick up another novel, for example, if they feel more
confident in reading the newspaper or in writing a paper for another
class--I will feel that I did "right" by them. The goal, however,
would be to have them join me for a trip to Barnes and Noble to
pick out a bunch of novels for their summer trip to Florida!
Memorable moment at HCC:
I have many wonderful memories of laughter in my classes----my students
have made my sides ache from laughing that hard---nothing beats
it.
Teaching philosophy:
To seize the day and strive to open up literature, essays, poems,
and, ultimately, all texts--to my students. And to learn from my
students and their worlds---as they have much to teach.
