Health and Natural Sciences Information Sessions

Attending an information session to find out more about a degree program is important and often required.  Below is a list of information sessions along with other relevant information for Foundations of Health, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, and Veterinary Technician . 

Foundations of Health Information Sessions

The Foundations of Health degree offers students a wide base of courses that will prepare them for a variety of health care options and careers. Throughout your time in this curriculum you will work with your advisor to design the best track to match your goals. You may earn a certificate, graduate with a FOH degree, or apply to one of our selective programs. The list of courses intentionally encompasses the requirements set out by the Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Radiologic Technology programs.

The Foundations of Health Program (A.S. option under Liberal Arts & Sciences) holds information sessions on the following Thursdays in Frost 309.

Information sessions are for advisors, faculty, staff, and students (current and new) who have questions or who would like to learn more about this exciting new program at Holyoke Community College.  No reservations necessary.

Nursing & Practical Nursing Information Sessions

Acceptance to the ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing) and PN (Practical Nursing Certificate) programs at Holyoke Community College is competitive and space is limited in each program. Students who successfully complete the ADN program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Students completing the PN program are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

The deadline to apply each year is February 1. There are prerequisites that must be met prior to applying to either program. To learn more about these programs and the respective requirements, it is required that you attend a Nursing Information Session prior to February 1 and no more than one year ago. Each session lasts approximately one hour and is conducted by a member of the Division of Health and Life Sciences at HCC. No reservations are necessary. unless otherwise indicated, sessions are held on Thursdays in Frost 309:

Radiologic Technology Information Sessions

Space in Radiologic Technology program at Holyoke Community College is limited. Students who successfully complete the two year Radiologic Technology program are eligible to take the ARRT exam to become a Registered Radiologic Technologist.

Prerequisites must be met prior to applying to this program. You are required to attend a Radiologic Technology information session within 2 years of submitting a Rad Tech application. Each session lasts approximately one hour and is conducted by a representative from the Radiologic department. No reservation needed. Deadline to apply each year: February 1. Veterinary Technician Information Sessions

The Veterinary Technician Program has selective admissions with a deadline of February 1 for admission to the following Fall. Biology 107 with a "C" or better and eligibility to take college math are requirements for admission. Rabies vaccination is strongly recommended but not required and observation in a veterinary facility is also recommended but not required for admission. Attendance at an Information Session is also required. Information sessions take place on the dates below in Frost 309.
