Juvenile Justice [B]

This course will introduce students to the history of the juvenile justice system in America, and will examine how juvenile wrongdoing has been socially constructed as a problem. Emphasis will be placed on the measurement of delinquency, the causes and prevention of delinquency, the formal juvenile justice system, and alternative means of dealing with young offenders, such as restortative justice and diversion programs. Prerequisites: SOC 110 or PSY 110
