COURSE CODE: HON 204

CREDITS: 3

PREREQUISITES: Prerequisite: Honors Program entrance requirements or by permission of instructor

Ideas That Change The World is a discussion-based Honors Seminar where students will examine groundbreaking ideas that have shaped our global world. The primary texts used in the course will be influential works that raise issues of enduring importance for humanity. Throughout the semester, students will also inquire into their own potential for transformative creativity, innovation, and leadership. As an interdisciplinary seminar, this course illuminates ideas that cross the disciplinary boundaries of the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. Some of the fundamental questions we will inquire about are: Why do some ideas become influential? What social conditions tend to foster creative thinking? Under what circumstances can creativity transform societies? Across disciplines, what do innovators have in common?Prerequisite: Honors Program entrance requirements or by permission of instructor
