author profile pictureThe next best thing to reading a good book is talking about it over lunch with the author! If you agree, please join us. Our spring book honors the One Community Holyoke theme: Noah's Raven by HCC's own, Bob McMaster, HCC Emeritus professor of Biology.

About the Book

Book cover Noah's Raven weaves a story of intrigue set during the tumultuous period of the First World War. With the deadly war in the background, Noah's Raven explores the impact of patriotic fervor and xenophobia on the home front in Holyoke.  Anne Wellington, Jack Bernard, and Jack's sister Claire, characters developed in the first two books of the Trolley Days series, befriend a scientist excavating fossil dinosaur tracks along the banks of the Connecticut River. Soon dark secrets are revealed, some buried in ancient rock, some hidden deep in the heart of their mysterious new acquaintance.

While entirely fictional, Noah's Raven captures the atmosphere of 1917 Holyoke with realism and local detail.
