Springfield College JV Defeats Holyoke Community 17-10

HOLYOKE, MA - Eight Springfield batters drove in runs Thursday as the Cougars fell to the Pride 17-10.  Four HCC pitchers were used in the non-regional game at Cougar Field while Springfield called upon only two.

The Cougars batted around in the first inning scoring four times and jumping out to an early lead, but were held scoreless over the next three with the Pride scoring seven times over that span.  Trailing 15-6 entering the eighth inning, Holyoke made a late push, plating four runners and cutting the deficit to five runs entering the ninth.  Springfield added two insurance runs in the top half of the ninth before retiring the Cougars in order in the final frame.

HCC freshman David White (S. Deerfield) went 4-5 on the afternoon with 2 singles and 2 doubles, driving in 3 runs.

The Cougars host Community College of Rhode Island this afternoon at 4 p.m.
