Holyoke Community College will be holding a festival to mark the 20th anniversary of its Electronic Media Program on Sat., May 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in HCC's Electronic Media Arts Center.
The festival will feature a panel discussion with area professionals and HCC alums working in the electronic media industry, individual presentations by professionals and electronic media artists and an awards ceremony for high school and college students who submitted their work to a festival competition.
The winning entries in the competition will be screened in HCC's Black Box Theater beginning at 10 a.m., followed at 11 a.m. by the panel discussion with Jacob Mazonson, a local animator; Jim Gipe, owner of Pivot Media; Tom Graham, from the game design company HitPoint; Rich Bravman, a video producer and graduate of HCC's Electronic Media program; and Emma Shepherd, a web designer.
At noon, there will be individual presentations by Graham; digital photographer Stan Scherer; Copper Giloth, a professor of digital media at UMass, Sherng-Lee Huang, an independent video artist from New York; and HCC alum Max Dickenson, now a student at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston.
The festival is free and open to the public. There is also a free lunch for electronic media professionals and teachers. Lunch reservations can be made at www.hcc-cmta.org/emfestival.
