HCC is fortunate to have some of the finest jazz and classical guitar teachers in the Pioneer Valley. This week, for one class period, they put on a short show for HCC students, faculty and staff.
HCC music teachers Bob Ferrier (jazz), Phil de Fremery (classical), Joe La Creta (jazz) and John Mason (classical) performed during the Spring 2014 Guitar Summit, in the Fine & Performing Arts building.
La Creta opened the program with a medley of jazz guitar pieces, followed by Bob Ferrier and John Mason, who played a duet.
De Fremery talked about the struggle to "play the guitar," rather than letting the "guitar play you," and ended with a piece of classical music.
The Guitar Summit was part of the HCC Music Department's Spring 2014 series of free performances and lectures.
