Cougars Battle with Warriors, Lose 5-2 in
HOLYOKE, MA - The second match of this afternoon's double-header against Massasoit featured plenty of hustle and energy from the HCC men's team. Both squads brought their "A" game and it was the talent of the Division I Warriors that proved to be too much for the Cougars as they dropped the regional match 5-2.
Freshman defender Reilly Forance (Southampton) put the Cougars on the board in the 15th minute on a ball from sophomore midfielder Kyle Duquette (Holyoke). The 1-0 advantage was short-lived as the Warriors would even the score six minutes later en route to a 3-1 halftime lead.
Sophmore defender and tri-captain Matt O'Neill (Southwick) pulled the Cougars to within 1 with a goal four minutes into the second half, assisted by Reilly Forance. Massasoit would add on two more goals as the scoreboard read 5-2 when time expired.
HCC Head Coach Abel Durojaiye commented after the match on how pleased he was with the effort and intensity brought by his team against such an admirable opponent.
The Cougars travel to Springfield Technical CC on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match against the Rams.
