Cougars come up short as Manchester CC takes
3 to 1 victory
By Matt Patenaude
HOLYOKE, MA - The Cougars of HCC hosted the Cougars of MCC earlier this afternoon in a Region 21 match. Holyoke had visited Manchester Community College in September and lost by a score of 3 to 1. It was a different venue this time, but the exact same result as HCC dropped a hard fought battle against a familiar opponent in MCC.
Freshman forward Mark Grant got the scoring started for Manchester with the first of his two goals as he directed a header into the back of the net in the 22nd minute. MCC would add one more goal before halftime and go into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Possesion and overall control of game flow seemed to be even among the two squads, and it was only a matter of time until HCC found the back of the net. This occured in the 57th minute when freshman forward Tyrell Stewart (Springfield) netted a goal assisted by freshman forward Pat Cronin (Holyoke). This would be the only goal of the match for the Cougars (shown above; photo by Matt Patenaude) as Manchester would tack on one more and win by a final score of 3-1.
The Cougars travel to Mass Bay Community College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. regional match.
