W-Soccer: HCC defeats STCC 3-0

Women's Soccer takes care of STCC, stays

SPRINGFIELD, MA - While the men's soccer team hosted STCC yesterday afternoon, the Lady Cougars played visitor, facing the Rams in Springfield.  The women's program earned their sixth overall win of the season and their third win in Region 21 play to stay perfect.

Second year midfielder Jenna Seymour (Northampton) 
put the Cougars on the board in the 25th minute with
a goal off of a corner kick, assisted by sophomore Alicia Carter (Easthampton).  HCC would strike again early in the second half (54th minute) with a score from sophomore Amanda Grant (Westfield), set up by freshman Jenn Galindo (Chicopee).  Alicia Carter would add an insurance goal in the 80th minute, assisted by freshman Amy Hewins (Westfield), as the Cougars earned the win.

For the third straight game, freshman goalkeepers Kassidy Kindness (Chicopee) and Malynda Riopelle (Springfield) split time between the pipes for the Cougars, each making one save.  Freshman Regan Teixeira (shown at right; photo by Matt Patenaude) put in a strong performance as HCC outshot STCC

The Cougars host Bristol CC this Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of a men's/women's regional doubleheader.  The men's team will take the field at 3 p.m.
