HOLYOKE, MA - HCC women's soccer fell to the Community College of Rhode Island yesterday by a final score of 1-0.  CCRI is a NJCAA Division I program while the Cougars belong to Division III.

Despite the difference in division affiliation, the Cougars matched up very well with the Knights.  The majority of play occured in CCRI territory as the Cougars controlled possesion throughout.

Knight defender Brittany Croll booted a long goal in the 37th minute that floated over the goalkeeper's head and would prove to be the difference in the match.

Cougars head coach Rob Galazka commented after the match that "the team played with alot of heart but sometimes things just don't go your way."  Coach also mentioned that the midfield played particularly well.

HCC made 14 shots while CCRI attempted seven.  HCC made six saves and CCRI made ten.

The Cougars visit Dean College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
