11-0 Win Over Bristol CC in Breast Cancer Awareness Game
(Holyoke, MA) The women's soccer team remains perfect in Region XXI Disctrict III play cruising to an 11-0 win over visiting Bristol Community College improving their record to 5-0-0. This eleven goal performance will add this team for the second time to the all-time records for goals in a game for HCC women's soccer. Today's win also has secured the ladies the number one seed in the region.
Sporting pink socks, the team took the pitch in their first of two matches this weekend. Jess Teodore (Southwick, MA) led the Cougars from the start, notching the first goal of the game in the 5th minute from Breanna Line (Ludlow, MA). Teodore went on to score 2 other goals in the match and assist on 3 more, totalling 9 points in the game and adding her name to the records books for points in a game.
Several players were highlighted with multiple goals in the game. Norma Reyes (Springfield, MA) scored back to back goals fed by Teodore and Kystin Glod (Agawam, MA). Devon Wolfenden (East Longmeadow, MA) also put two in the net assisted by Teodore and Lysangeli Zavala (Chicopee, MA). Defensive back Kaley Donovan (West Springfield, MA) found herself one on one with the Bristol keeper and scored unassisted in the 72nd minute for her first career goal. Tai Lopez (from Teodore), Nikki Callini, and Glod (from Callini) also tallied goals on the afternoon.
The ladies will be tested tomorrow as the ASA Avengers from Brooklyn, NY will travel to Holyoke in a 12:00 PM kick-off. The Avengers enter the contest with a record of 6-2-0.
