Help Logging In to Moodle

Having trouble logging in? Review these instructions to be sure you're following all the steps. If you still can't login, help is always available at the HCC Help Desk. Be sure you are using the Firefox browser. You can download the browser here.

At the Moodle Log In screen, enter your username (ex: cscharmann890) and password, which is your DOB in the following format - mmddyy. Your username is derived of the following: the first initial of your first name + your full last name (leave out hyphens were applicable) + the last three (3) digits of your Student ID number.

This is the same convention for your "myPortal" account (email and college communications). If you have a hyphenated name, leave out the hyphen.

For example: Megan Johnson-Fitzgerald with an ID of 123456789 and DOB of 09/12/88 will have the following portal (email) and Moodle ID data: mjohnsonfitzgerald789  Password: 091288

If you do not know or have forgotten your password, click the "forgot password link", put in your HCC email address and you will receive directions to that account. If you have further difficulties, please contact the helpdesk at (413) 552-2075 or helpdesk@hcc.edu.

If you are immediately returned to the login screen without an error message, or if you get some type of "Access Denied" or "Forbidden" error message:

  • Run the Browser Tuneup to ensure that your browser is supported and configured correctly.
  • Download and run a spyware detection tool, such as Spybot Search and Destroy or LavaSoft's Ad-Aware. Spyware utilities can often get onto your computer without your realizing what's happening. Many wreak havoc with web browsers and can keep them from working correctly with complex web sites like Moodle.
  • If you have a firewall running, make sure it is configured to allow everything from the following address: http://holyokecc.mrooms3.net
If these procedures above do not succeed in giving you access, follow the next few steps below...

If you receive an "Incorrect Username or Password" message:


Make certain that there are no spaces within, preceding or following the entries in the Moodle Account username and Moodle Account password fields. In Moodle, try the "Forgot Password" link and follow the directions in the TWO (2) emails that you will receive.  If all else fails, contact the helpdesk at (413) 552-2075 or helpdesk@hcc.edu for further assistance.
