Holyoke Community College participates in Joint Admission Programs with the four campuses of the University of Massachusetts and all of the state colleges, except the Massachusetts College of Arts and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with which we have some College Articulation Agreements.
The Agreement between the University of Massachusetts campuses (Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth and Lowell) is open to any student before graduation from that community college. Students are eligible for Joint Admission based upon enrollment in designated transfer programs. Students identified as being eligible to participate under Joint Admission Programs are then conditionally accepted to the University program of their choice. In order to satisfy the conditions of admission into the designated university campus, participating students must earn a minimum 2.5 QPA (based upon 4.0 scale) and an Associates Degree in a designated transfer program.

The agreement between the Community Colleges and the University of Massachusetts, as well as the Massachusetts State colleges, are open to any student in a designated Joint Admission Program. Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for the Joint Admission Program before they graduate. Those students who are identified as eligible to participate under the Joint Admission Program are conditionally accepted by the university or state college of their choice. To satisfy the conditional admission into the university or State College of choice, participating students must earn an Associate Degree in a designated Joint Admission Program with a 2.5 QPA.

Participation in Joint Admission Programs can be terminated at any time. Indication of participation in Joint Admission does not obligate the student to enroll at any institution. Transfer admission to these and other institutions is available to any student who meets the requirements (see Transfer Compact).

Those students who participate in Joint Admission and graduate with a 3.0 grade point average or higher are eligible for a 1/3 reduction off the instate tuition under the Tuition Advantage Program. Currently students transferring into continuing education programs are NOT eligible for the Tuition Advantage Program.

Students seeking readmission to a previously attended state college or university are not eligible to participate in Joint Admission at that school, but may participate with other eligible schools.
Holyoke Community College is currently developing Joint Admission Agreements with other colleges and universities. For further information, contact the Transfer Counselor (Frost 201).
