Giving back to the community he loved

Benefactor and long-time friend of HCC, Donald Taber was deeply committed to his community and believed in the importance of education. He shared his passion for art by donating several works of art to the HCC Foundation, making a generous gift to build the Taber Art Gallery and endowing two scholarships for students studying the visual arts. At the time of his death, he left a generous bequest to support art acquisition at HCC. The college, the community, and the region will benefit from his generosity and vision.

The Donald and Wilimina Taber Collection is broad in spectrum and styles ranging from works by Salvador Dali to Martin Rico y Ortega. The creation of the gallery has allowed the college to display the works of faculty, alumni and local artists, and foster an appreciation of the arts through gallery talks and exhibits open to the community.
