Favorite course/teacher:

Chamber vocals, with Ellen Cogen. It's a small setting compared to the chorale class so it's more individualized, and you can express yourself in a different way. You are more likely to have a solo to showcase your talents.

Most meaningful encounter at HCC:

Discovering that HCC had a music program. I started at HCC in Culinary Arts cause I love to cook. I sang as a kid, but I had no musical training. I've been learning all of that here.

Why does education matter to you?

Education is important because you're growing as you're learning. And it helps you out in the future, jobwise.

What is your favorite thing about HCC?

All the musical opportunities. I'm able to be myself and express myself, and it doesn't feel like work.

Advice for fellow students?

Don't let anybody tell you you can't or question whatever it is you want to go to school for. If it's something that you like to do and it's a passion that you know deep down inside your heart you can do something with, do it. Don't stop.

Where are you going from here?

After I get my associate degree from HCC, I do plan on going to a four-year college to get my bachelor's degree in music. My ultimate career plan is either to make it on Broadway or sign a deal with a record label. I want to be a professional singer. I want to take it to another level.
