HCC Activities/Employment:

Team Inspire. We went to Dean Technical High School in Holyoke to tutor and talk to students who are behind in their homework or failing classes. I've been working since I was 15, most recently at Burger King.

Favorite course:

I took a Learning Community class about teenage mothers that combined English and sociology. That was my favorite class, basically because everybody was really expressive. Everyone shared their thoughts. It was just good to hear different perspectives.

Most meaningful experience at HCC:

Graduating. That was a really good feeling.

What is your favorite thing about HCC?

The support, the help. If I needed help I never ran out of places to get it.

What's the most important thing you've learned at HCC?

That time is precious. You should value your time. When I first came here as a high school student, I didn't value my time. I didn't use my time wisely at all. I'd have like a five-page essay due in two hours and I'd just be struggling. I'd get the grade back and even though it was passing I knew I could do a lot better. So, a lot of times I just didn't use my time wisely. As I grew, I learned to use my time better so I had more time to do what I wanted to do and I didn't have to rush to get things done.

Where are you now?

I joined the U.S. Navy.
