In my classes, I cover superficially any material that students can read about in a textbook. But I cover in depth individual learning objectives that can be reinforced with active learning experiences. It is important to make learning about even the most mundane topics fun and to keep telling students what they are learning and why.

In October 2011, Martinez received the Latino Teaching Excellence Award from Gov. Deval L. Patrick at a State House ceremony celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Although Prof. Ducharme's educational background is all in theater, he teaches electronic media classes at HCC and his first love has always been music.
Maiolatesi is the principal coordinator for HCC's Sustainability Studies program. She was awarded the Marieb Award for Teaching Excellence at Commencement in May 2012.
