Support at HCC

HCC offers a multitude of support services for students, from the Center for Academic Program Support to the Advising Center and Counseling Center. In addition we offer a number of special support programs aimed at specific groups of students. Check them out—one of them may be right for you!

ALANA
Are you an African American, Latino, Asian and Native American man looking for academic support with personalized attention? The ALANA Men in Motion Mentoring Program provides academic support, mentoring, counseling, networking and community-building.

If you are a new student working toward an Associate's Degree, the First Year Experience (FYE) program is designed to help you successfully transition to college and achieve your academic goals. You'll be part of a cohort of liberal arts students who have access to an FYE advisor, as well as FYE Learning Communities and courses.

MAS supports students who have participated in Avanza2College, students enrolling in HCC's ESL program, and other students from diverse backgrounds. You'll be part of a community of learners and develop the skills to help you succeed in college and beyond.

New Directions is a free support program designed to help non-traditional female students age 24 and older, including young mothers and veterans. It offers a range of services to help you succeed. You'll be encouraged to pursue your goals and learn about opportunities for transferring to four-year colleges.

HCC's Nursing Success Program provides quality advising and support to students intent on pursuing a career in nursing. We are strongly attached to the Foundation of Health Program and disseminate information through class visits, advising and monthly information sessions. NSP also strives to better reflect our community in regard to language, ethnicity and culture.

If you are a strong, committed student from an underrepresented group or a veteran, the Pathways Program can help you excel at HCC-and then transfer to a selective four-year college. Pathways offers free academic and personal support services to qualified students.

Are you interested in college but need some support along the way? STRIVE is designed to help you succeed. It provides ongoing academic and personal assistance to students who are first generation to college or low-income or have a documented disability.
