New Directions

Are you a woman age 24 or older who is thinking of returning to college or enrolling for the first time? New Directions is a free support program designed to help non-traditional female students, including young mothers and veterans. It offers a range of services to help you succeed. You'll be encouraged to pursue your goals and learn about opportunities for transferring to four-year colleges.


About New Directions

New Directions is a college success program for "non-traditional" women students-age 24 or older, young mothers, and female veterans. We serve a wide range of new and readmitting students, such as women who have been out of school for many years, GED graduates, and international students. Our comprehensive services include:

  • pre-enrollment counseling 
  • information about financial aid 
  • academic advising
  • orientation workshops
  • basic computer instruction
  • career and transfer guidance
  • a dedicated lounge and study center.

There is no fee to apply to or participate in New Directions.

Schedule and Location

Programming and resources are available M-F from 8:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
New Directions is located in Frost Building, Room 232.

Transportation and Parking

Transportation to the HCC campus is available via PVTA buses. Parking is available in student lots.

To Apply

Applications are available from the New Directions Office. In addition to submitting the application, an interview with the program coordinator is required.
