Q: How will I know if I have received a scholarship?
A: If you are offered a scholarship, you will receive an email notifying you of such to your HCC email address (and which you must use to log in). You will also see a status beside scholarship applications on the "Home" tab displayed as "Offered."

Q: Entering Essays
A: All scholarships require an essay from 250 to 500 words. We encourage you to use word processing tools to confirm that your essay is grammatically accurate (spelling and punctuation). You may preview the content of your essay to ensure that no unusual formatting occurs after copy/paste from another program.

Essay: Tell us about yourself, your greatest successes, accomplishments, and personal achievements. Include educational and personal goals, life history, significant obstacles you have overcome, personal and financial needs that are unique to you, and any special circumstances that have had a significant impact on your academic performance. Also include any information about yourself that you would like the Scholarship Committee to consider when evaluating why you are a good candidate for a scholarship.

Q: Applying to Scholarship Opportunities
A: Once the questions on the General Application are answered, you are automatically matched to scholarships for which you meet the donor's criteria. No other action is needed for these scholarships. You will be presented with a list of recommended scholarship opportunities. These scholarships require additional information that is not included in the General Application. You are encouraged to click on each scholarship name to review the criteria. We encourage you to apply for scholarships where you meet ALL the donor's additional requirements.

Q: How can I see the scholarship opportunities to which I was automatically matched?
A: Students are only able to view scholarships for which they supplied additional information and submitted an application. Students may see scholarships that do not require additional action by clicking the "ALL" tab to review criteria.

Q: FAFSA Application
A: New and continuing HCC students are encouraged to complete an up-to-date FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov. After you complete your FAFSA, you will receive a link to access your SAR (Student Aid Report) within (5) business days of filing. HCC's school code is 002170.
