'Los Valientes'
HCC welcomes The Core Ensemble for a musical and theatrical performance of "Los Valientes" (The Courageous Ones) on the stage of the Leslie Phillip Theater on Wed., Sept. 20, at 11 a.m.
"Los Valientes" is "a chamber music theater work" exploring "the artisit and political passions of Mexican painter Diego Rivera, the unwavering commitment to human rights of Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, and the pursuit of social justice by Mexican-American desperado Joaquin Murrieta, otherwise known as 'Zorro.'"
The show features actor David Perez-Ribada as Rivera, Romero, and Murrieta, and Hugh Hinton on piano.
The Core Ensemble is a traveling performance group that combines chamber music with narrative, dance and visual arts.
The event is sponsored by the Community College Public Humanities Center at HCC, the HCC Student Activities office and the HCC Foreign Languages Department.
