HCC to Honor Veterans

LOCATION: PeoplesBank Conference Room (301/303), Kittredge Center for Business and Workforce Development, 303 Homestead Ave., Holyoke

"Educate, Inspire, Connect" is the new, three-word mission statement of Holyoke Community College. It is also the theme of HCC's 2019 Veterans Day celebration, which will feature guest speakers who exemplify each of those three directives.  

The Veterans Day ceremony will be held on Wed., Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the PeoplesBank Conference Room on the third floor of the Kittredge Center for Business and Workforce Development on the main HCC campus, 303 Homestead Ave.

The speakers are:

·       Joselmang Leon of Holyoke, U.S. Army veteran and 2019 graduate of HCC who earned his associate degree in computer information systems and is now working on his bachelor's degree at Westfield State University – "Educate"

·       Jesus Pereira of Holyoke, a U.S. Army veteran, director of Veteran Services for the city of Holyoke, and founder and pilot for Vet Air – "Inspire"

·        Mark Hudgik of Hadley, HCC's director of Admissions, U.S. Air Force veteran, and HCC alumnus from the class of 2002 – "Connect"

The program will also include an honor guard from Westover Air Reserve Base, the National Anthem, performed by Isabel Vigneault, and  taps performed by Steve Bailey, technical director of the HCC's Leslie Phillips Theater and HCC alumnus from the class of 1977.

The event is open to the public and area veterans are encouraged to attend.

Lunch and refreshments will be served following the presentation.
