Ludlow Area Adult Learning Center

The Ludlow Area Adult Learning Center (LAALC) helps adults learn English and offers other support programs. Students join our program to improve their communication skills for college, careers, and community engagement. This free program serves adults in the Ludlow/Indian Orchard area who are immigrants or refugees. Students range in age from 17 to 70+. All are welcome!

About LAALC

LAALC provides free instruction in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Morning and evening classes are offered in levels ranging from true beginner to advanced. In addition, students work with an academic and career advisor and build technology skills. The program provides support for:

  • transition to college;
  • workforce development;
  • family literacy skills;
  • other community goals.

Participants are awarded certificates for attendance, achievement, and completion.

Schedule & Location

ESOL classes available days and evenings, 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon and 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. 

Most classes are currently meeting online.

We will schedule an appointment with you for an intake interview. The interview will evaluate speaking, listening, reading, and writing to determine which class level is appropriate.

About HiSET

High School Equivalency (HiSET) classes are NOT available through LAALC. Those looking for HiSET preparation or testing can contact HCC's Picknelly Adult & Family Education Center (PAFEC) for more information.
