2021-22 Memorable Moments in Cougar Athletics
Athletic Achievements of the Past Academic Year
8/25/21 (Holyoke, MA)
The biggest story of the 2021-22 academic year was the return of athletics at HCC! After a very long pause due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Cougar athletes were ready to get back at it. Fall sports teams were back in competition in early September with winter sports beginning play in late October.

10/31/21 (Fall River, MA)
Lady Cougars soccer wins their regional semi-final, defeating Bristol CC by a 2-1 score. Gabriella Robert (Wilbraham, MA / Monson HS), who went on to lead the team in goals and points at season's end, scored both goals for Holyoke in the contest. The victory placed the storied women's soccer program in their 17th consecutive New England championship game. The Cougars have won the New England championship 12 times over that span, including eight consecutive titles from 2012 to 2019.

10/22/21 (Holyoke, MA)
Lady Cougars volleyball qualifies for the New England championship tournament with a victory in their regular season finale. Holyoke won 3-0 in straight sets over Mass Bay CC while celebrating a "senior" night to honor second-year player Aysha Miller (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS). Miller played brilliantly for the Cougars in the win, as she did throughout the year.

4/28/22 (New Haven, CT)
Cougars track & field athlete Jacob Dias (Ludlow, MA / Ludlow HS) qualifies for the NJCAA Div.III Track & Field Championships. Dias qualified for the national championships in the 400 meter hurdles by finishing in 5th place in the event at the Mark Young Invitational held at Yale University.

Two members of the Cougars baseball team earn awards. Both athletes earned a team award while one additionally claimed All-New England (All-Region) honors.

Four members of the Lady Cougars soccer team earn All New England honors, two of who additionally earn team awards. Two Lady Cougars were selected 1st team All-New England and two others were selected to the 2nd team.

11/17/21 (Holyoke, MA)
Men's basketball claims a 57-55 regional home win behind a tremendous first half performance. The Cougars built a nice lead and, after opponent Quinsigamond CC tied the score late in the game, second-year returner Chevon Cote (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS) sunk a pair of free throws to secure the win.

4/22/22 (Holyoke, MA)
Cougars baseball earns a 10-9 regional home win over Quinsigamond CC. Second-year designated hitter Nick Kruezer (Suffield, CT / Suffield HS) led the way at the plate while first-year pitcher James McGann (Suffield, CT / Suffield HS) earned the win on the mound. Holyoke had a pair of four-run innings in the contest.

Men's soccer puts forth two of its strongest performances of the season. Holyoke was unable to secure a victory but fell by just a goal in a pair of close regional games. The Cougars worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, battling fiercely in every game.

Cougars volleyball wins their second consecutive regional game. Holyoke defeated Mass Bay CC in straight sets at the Bartley Center to earn the victory.

4/7/22 (Quincy MA)
Cougars baseball earns an 8-7 road victory over Quincy College. HCC put forth a true team effort with every member of the roster contributing to the win.

10/21/21 (Springfield, MA)
Women's soccer defeats local rival Springfield Technical CC 2-0. The Lady Cougars were victorious three times against rival STCC this season, shutting them out on all three occasions.
