Cougars Win on the Road
(Worcester, MA) - The Cougars baseball team earned their first win of the young season on Thursday afternoon, travelling to defeat regional opponent Quinsigamond CC 7-3. Holyoke performed well behind stellar pitching and a six-run 7th inning rally on their way to the victory.
Starting pitcher Jake Leahy (Springfield, MA / Pope Francis HS) led the way for the Cougars, giving up just three hits in eight and a third innings pitched. Leahy struck out ten batters and gave up just one earned run in the contest. Catcher Aaron Young (Sommers, CT / Sommers HS) was strong from the plate, hitting 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. First baseman Mike Indomenico (East Longmeadow, MA / East Longmeadow HS) hit a clutch single that drove in two RBIs during Holyoke's 7th inning rally. Musashi Tajima (Amherst, MA / Amherst Regional HS) earned the save, coming on in relief in the 9th inning while also scoring a run in the win. Young, Indomenico and Tajima each had a stolen base in the game.
