Cougars Slugging Away

Antosz Cougars Basball

The HCC baseball team continues to swing for the fences as their season winds toward the finish. The Cougars have dealt with a wild and unpredictable schedule due to the wet weather. Unplayable field conditions have led to numerous rescheduled games and indoor practice sessions. The Cougars have played well amidst the adverse conditions, displaying some promising moments along the way.

Several Cougars have shined at the plate, racking up stellar offensive numbers. Garett Antosz (Westhampton, MA / Hampshire Regional HS) is one of three players batting in the three hundreds while Timothy Girard (Holyoke, MA / Pope Francis HS) is batting a brilliant .435. Antosz leads the Cougars in hits and runs scored, batting .353 and on the defensive side yields a 1.000 fielding percentage. Girard is the team's leader in batting average and is tied for third in hits. Michael Indomenico (East Longmeadow, MA / East Longmeadow HS), who is batting .370, leads Holyoke in RBIs and is tied for third in hits. Aaron Young (Sommers, CT / Sommers HS) is batting .393 and is second on the team in hits. Young has been one of the Cougars' best pitchers this year, leading the team in wins, strikeouts, games started and innings pitched.

Holyoke has an overall record of 1-12 and a regional record of 1-8. They have a few games left this season, including a home game this Sunday at noon against the team they defeated earlier this season, Quinsigamond CC. Let's go Cougars!
