Masterful Start for Cougar Golf
HCC Golfers Spectacular in Early Season
(Chicopee, MA) - The Cougar golf team got their season underway in extraordinary fashion, winning the first two Region XXI (New England) events of the season. The Cougars hosted the opening pair of competitions held at the beautiful Chicopee Country Club on April 16th and 23rd.
The Cougars have a roster of four golfers, the total number needed at an NJCAA golf event to register a team score. Leading the way are a pair of returners from last season, Kyle Richter (East Longmeadow, MA / East Longmeadow HS) and Ryan McGeary (Agawam, MA / Agawam HS), who both qualified for last year's NJCAA National Golf Championship. Richter and McGeary have played exceptionally to start this season, consistently hitting fairways and greens, leading to a plethora of birdies on the scorecard. Richter, who finished second at last season's New England Championship, won the April 28th event in the individual competition, scoring a spectacular 78.
The Cougars will play several regular season events before playing host to this year's New England Championship. The tournament is a two-day event played at the divine Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, MA on May 21st and 22nd. Let's go Cougars!
