HCC Soccer Player Awarded NJCAA Player of the Week
Record Setting Game Earns Honors for Evborokhai
Cougars' soccer player Joseph Evborokhai (Holyoke, MA / Holyoke HS) has been named NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Player of the Week for September 3rd - 9th. The freshman standout had a record-setting performance in Holyoke's home opener and was a major factor in the team's two regional wins this past week.
Evborokhai scored a hat trick in Holyoke's 11-0 dismantling of Roxbury CC last Wednesday while also tallying a very impressive six assists. His six assists in a game is a Cougars soccer all-time record, beating the previous mark of four that was held by several players. Evborokhai 's 12 points in a game ties a 45-year-old all-time record that was set by Mike Lapan in 1973. Euborokhai was also instrumental in the Cougars' 2-1 victory over Quincy College on Saturday, playing exceptionally throughout the contest.
Evborokhai currently leads the Cougars in assists and points and is second on the team in goals. Holyoke is 2-0-0 in regional games this season and 2-2-0 overall. Congratulations to Evborokhai for this impressive achievement and to the HCC men's soccer team for their outstanding week.
