Women’s Basketball Victorious at Home
Lady Cougars Earn Regional Win
(Holyoke, MA) - The Lady Cougars basketball team won their first game of the young season on Saturday afternoon, earning a 70-36 home victory over regional opponent Roxbury CC. Holyoke's win is the first in new head coach Joe Paige's tenure. On Saturday evening Coach Paige was inducted into the Springfield Public Schools Sports Hall of Fame.
Three Lady Cougars registered double digits in points in the win as Holyoke tallied their highest score of the season. Point guard Breanna Marchena (Springfield, MA / Commerce HS) led the way for the Cougars, scoring 22 points while controlling the pace of play for her team. Forward Colby Sanders (New Hampshire) notched 17 points in the contest and was dominant on the boards, leading both teams in rebounds. Forward Jah'Anesty Dickson (Springfield, MA / Commerce HS) put up 15 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
Holyoke's New England regional record is 1-1 and their overall record is 1-3. Their next home game is regional contest against local rival Springfield Technical CC on Tuesday, December 3rd at 5:30pm. Let's go Cougars!
