Lady Cougars Win Two More Regional Games

Women’s Soccer Remains Perfect in New England

(Brockton, MA / Holyoke, MA) - The Lady Cougars came away with a pair of regional victories this past week to remain perfect atop the New England standings. Holyoke travelled to Massasoit CC Tuesday, earning a 2-1 win, before shutting out Quinsigamond CC 5-0 at HCC on Friday. The Cougars wore pink on the October Friday in support of breast cancer awareness.

Kayla La Fortune (Holyoke MA, Holyoke HS), who has been a dominant defensive presence in the midfield all season for the Cougars, led the offensive charge this past week. La Fortune scored both goals in Tuesday's win and added another pair on Thursday. Mary Glasheen (Holyoke MA, Holyoke HS) and Zoe Moynihan (Holyoke MA, Holyoke HS) each registered a goal and an assist against Quinsigamond and Glasheen also had an assist against Massasoit. Jessica Payne (Monson, MA / Monson HS) scored a goal Thursday while Kari Little (Amherst, MA / Amherst Regional HS) tallied a pair of assists. Lizzy Zollo (Monson, MA / Monson HS) had an assist against Massasoit to go along with an all around stellar performance. Hannah Garon (Monson, MA / Monson HS) earned the shutout Thursday, her and the team's seventh of the season. Garon made a remarkable clutch save against Massasoit late in the game to keep the Cougars in the lead.

The Lady Cougars are a perfect 8-0-0 in the New England region. They are 8-4-2 overall while 8-2-1 in NJCAA Division III competition. Holyoke plays two games on the road in the upcoming week before closing the regular season at home. The Cougars will host local rivals Springfield Technical CC on Sunday, October 20th at 12:00pm in the regular season finale. Let's go Cougars!
