(Holyoke, MA) - The Lady Cougars soccer team made it two shutouts in a row by defeating Nassau CC this past Saturday afternoon. For the second consecutive game, Holyoke won by a 2-0 score on their home field. Saturday's victory was especially sweet for the Cougars, as Nassau was the team who knocked them out of post season play in 2016.

Leading the way offensively for the Lady Cougars once again was the team's top scorer Cassidy Snyder (Holyoke, MA / Smith Academy), who tallied the first goal of the contest and assisted on the second. Snyder now has four goals and an assist over the first three games of the season. McKenzie Wilson (South Hadley, MA / Smith Academy) scored the second goal in Saturday's matchup and was one of the best players on the field for the entire 90 minutes. Catherine Hotham (Southampton, MA / Hampshire Regional HS) had another stellar performance defensively and pitched in offensively with an assist on the Cougars' first goal. Allison Zollo (Monson, MA / Monson HS) was one of the most dominant players on the field for Holyoke for the third straight match and freshmen Miranda Grochowski (Westfield, MA / Westfield HS) and Karina Volpe (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton HS) both played their best games of the year. Goalkeeper Maddisin Atkinson (Easthampton, MA / Smith Vocational HS) made six saves in earning her second shutout and has yet to be scored upon in two games played this season.

The Lady Cougars are 2-1-0 overall and will next play away on Thursday evening at Hudson Valley CC at 6pm. On Friday, Holyoke will play their first New England regional game of the year when they host Bunker Hill CC at 4pm. Let's go Cougars!!
