Athletic Achievements of the Past Academic Year

2019 HCC Golf - NE Champs

5/21 & 5/22/19 (Westfield, MA)
HCC golf wins the New England championship as a team while Cougar Kyle Richter is crowned the individual champion of the tournament. The individual championship for Richter and the team's title are both firsts for Holyoke since 2009. The Cougars earned an NJCAA Div. III National Championship birth by way of their New England championship victory.

10/26/18 (Holyoke, MA)
Lady Cougars soccer wins the district championship by way of 1-0 shutout over Nassau CC. The victory earns the Cougars a spot at the NJCAA Div. III National Championship Tournament. The national tournament appearance is women's soccer's seventh all-time and its first since 2013. The Lady Cougars finished the season with an NJCAA Div. III record of 13-6-1 and an overall record of 13-8-1.

9/27/18 (Holyoke, MA)
Women's volleyball hits the court after a brief hiatus, bringing volleyball back to HCC in the city of the sport's birthplace. Led by the guidance of first year head coach Dallas Jackson, the Lady Cougars played brilliantly throughout the season.

10/21/18 (Holyoke, MA)
Women's soccer claims the New England Championship with a 2-1 overtime win over Massasoit CC. The regional title is the Lady Cougars' seventh consecutively and 11th in the past 13 years. Women's soccer finishes the season with a regional record of 11-1-0.

10/17/18 (Holyoke, MA)
Men's soccer earns a colossal 1-0 home shutout, knocking off nationally ranked Mass Bay CC. At the time of the Cougars' win, Mass Bay sat atop the New England regional standings and was ranked #9 in the nation by the NJCAA. The victory clinched a post-season birth for the Cougars.

2/13/19 (Holyoke, MA)
Men's basketball closes out the season, winning their fifth straight home game by defeating Ben Franklin Institute 85-76. The Cougars were undefeated at home in February with a 5-1-0 overall record during the month.

12/19/19
Six members of the Lady Cougar soccer team earn All-New England honors, led by sophomore captain Jessica Patruno, who was additionally named an NJCAA All-American.

11/3/18 (Westfield, MA)
The Holyoke Community College Athletic Department plays host to the 2018 NJCAA Div. III Cross Country National Championships. The event was a huge success, with HCC hosting for the second straight year at Stanley Park in Westfield.

4/16 & 4/23/19 (Chicopee, MA)
Cougar golf starts the season in masterful fashion, winning the first pair of events. Holyoke won both competitions as a team while a Cougar golfer won each event as an individual.

9/5/19 (Holyoke, MA)
Cougars soccer wins their home opener, setting several all-time records in the victory. Freshman forward Joseph Evborokhai, who would later be named NJCAA player of the week, had 12 points (3 goals / 6 assists) in the victory. Evborokhai tied the men's soccer all-time points in a game record set in 1973 and set a new all-time mark for assists in a game.

4/11/19 (Worcester, MA)
Cougars baseball wins their first game of the young season, defeating regional rival Quinsigamond CC 7-3 on the road. Holyoke rallied behind a six-run seventh inning and strong pitching to claim the victory.

Men's soccer has six members of their team selected to the All-New England team after one of the program's best seasons in recent years.

2/2/19 (Holyoke, MA)
Cougars hoop defeats Massasoit CC 81-73 at home, sparking the team's hottest stretch of the year. Three Cougars registered a double-double in the contest as Holyoke caught fire late in the season.
