Men’s Basketball Opens Spring Season with Win

(Holyoke, MA) - The men's basketball team tipped off the spring half of their season with a victory on their home court on Thursday night. The Cougars earned an impressive 72-65 win over regional rival Quinsigamond CC to start the second part of their campaign heading in the right direction.

Freshman guard Jovan Rivera (Amherst, MA / Amherst Regional HS) led the way offensively for the Cougars, scoring 18 points, which included 12 from three-point range. Rivera was 4 of 6 on three-pointers and shot 70% overall from the floor. The Cougars received a full team effort, as five players, including Rivera, tallied double digits in points. Freshman center Robert Supinski (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS) and sophomore guard Darren Fair (Holyoke, MA / Holyoke HS) each registered a double-double. Supinski grabbed 15 rebounds while Fair brought down ten and each player scored ten points in the win. Freshman guard Tyrell Jackson (Amherst, MA / MacDuffie School) notched 11 points to go along with nine assists.

The Cougars are 1-0 during the spring portion of the season and 2-12 overall. They hit the road for their next contest and return to the Bartley Center for their next home game on Thursday, January 25th to take on Gateway CC at 7:30pm. Let's go Cougars!
