Women’s Hoop Announces Team Award Recipients

J.Dickson Women's Hoop

Two freshmen members of the Lady Cougar basketball team have earned team awards for the 2019-20 season. Both had outstanding years and are deserving recipients of their honor.

Jah'Anesty Dickson (Springfield, MA / Commerce HS) - Freshman - Forward - #1
2019-20 - Lady Cougars Most Valuable Player
Dickson was the Lady Cougars' vocal leader and most valuable and consistent player this season. A truly dedicated athlete, her commitment to her team and thirst to continuously grow as a player was unmatched. Dickson was in the top three on the team in every statistical category. She led Holyoke in games and minutes played and scored several important baskets throughout the campaign. A very deserving MVP, Dickson shined particularly with her passion for the game and desire to compete.

Karla Torres (Springfield, MA / Smith Vocational HS) - Freshman - Guard - #22
2019-20 - Lady Cougars Player Award
Torres earned the distinguished Player Award, an honor presented to a deserving athlete who represents the Lady Cougar basketball program in the way she carries herself both on and off the court. A hard-working player who gives everything she has for her teammates, Torres plays the game with sportsmanship and respect. She is a class act during the game and away from it and represents HCC athletics and Lady Cougars basketball perfectly.
