Located in Frost 273, the Advising Center is a one-stop student service center for Holyoke Community College students. The Center provides all aspects of academic advising to new, current and returning students. All services provided through the Center are free.
Every student enrolled in credit courses at the college is assigned to a faculty of staff member for the purpose of academic advising. Each fall and spring, the student and advisor meet to plan the student's program of study during Advising Period, which takes place before Priority Registration. While advisor's provide guidance, the final responsibility for selecting courses that fulfill graduation requirements rests solely with the student. Students can stop in the Welcome Center (FR 221) or Academic Affairs (FR 317) to find out their advisor's name and contact information. Students may also check their student account, available on the HCC website by clicking the MyHCC link. There are two Priority Registration periods for current students: one in March (for the fall semester) and the other in October/November (for the spring semester) Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor during Advising Period. Exact dates are listed in the academic calendar.
