Culinary Arts Program Summary
- Line Cook Certification
- Length: Eight weeks
- Cost: FREE (if you receive SNAP, ATR, TAFDC or other benefits)*
- In-person at the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute (164 Race St., Holyoke)
- Requirements: 18+ years old, Massachusetts resident, High School Diploma/HiSET/GED
- After finishing the program, students will get resources to help find jobs in the culinary arts field
Culinary Arts Program Description
The culinary arts program teaches students to use methods of food preparation that show the high level of skill and professionalism needed for advancement in the culinary industry. Students must be at least 18 years old and provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination.
The culinary arts program covers topics such as: knife skills; preparation of soups, stocks, desserts, poultry, fish, and meat; culinary math and measurements; and moist/dry heat cooking methods.
All classes are in person at the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute (164 Race St., Holyoke). Books, test fees, and uniforms are provided. Students must supply their own kitchen-safe shoes. Successful students will earn the HCC Line Cook Certification and will be eligible to take the ServSafe Manager exam.
