HCC's nursing programs prepare professionals to care for people in all aspects of health. Students learn in the state-of-the-art Center for Health Education's multimedia-equipped classrooms and high-fidelity simulation labs. Our faculty members are skilled practitioners, teachers, and mentors who are dedicated to your success. Our community-centered approach combines liberal and technical education both within the college and in hands-on practicums at regional healthcare facilities.

Applying to Nursing Programs
Admission into the HCC Nursing programs is an applied rubric evaluation process. Applicants need to meet the minimum application requirements and submit all the necessary documents by February 15 to be eligible for review as a candidate for admission. These requirements are in addition to any needed for general admission into Holyoke Community College. You may find the Nursing Application Checklist helpful to organize the process.
Applying for Readmission to Nursing Programs
Readmission into the HCC Nursing programs is an applied rubric evaluation process. Applicants need to meet the minimum application requirements and submit all the necessary documents by posted deadlines to be eligible for review as a candidate for readmission. These requirements are in addition to any needed for general admission into Holyoke Community College. You may find the Nursing Application Checklist helpful to organize the process.
- Readmission for spring semester deadline is October 15
- Readmission for fall semester deadline is February 15
Submit the Minimum Application Requirements
- Complete the College Application
- Program Requirements Acknowledgement Form. This form is available in the main online application.
- Signed Healthcare Employment Verification Form to verify related direct patient care employment in the healthcare field (for consideration in the application process only) to the ASN and/or PN Programs
- Demonstrate completion of all required general education courses with a minimum grade of C+ (77%) prior to their September 1 enrollment into their selected nursing programs. Please make sure you review all of your transcripts and know your grades PN & ASN Programs Coursework Requirements
- Official college transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended.
- Proof of college or university completion in a language other than English must be a certified translation and an official course-by-course equivalency performed by an authorized credential evaluation service and be sent to HCC. ✱

- Proof of completion of HCC Intermediate Algebra (MTH 095 or MTH 014) OR college-level statistics (MTH 142 OR MTH 192) course OR proof of eligibility for HCC College Algebra (MTH 104) via the approved HCC placement methods
- Proof of eligibility for HCC ENG 101 (Please see the Course Placement section of the HCC website for more information)
- NEX assessment with a minimum of 50% on the verbal section and RN composite score of 100 for all applicants. Not required for Students applying for readmission to NUR/PNR 180 or above or to the 1+1 option.
- Official final high school transcript or its equivalent.
- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR 1+1 AND LPN2RN
- Current, active, and unencumbered LPN license.
- Healthcare Employment Verification Form demonstrating working as an LPN at the time of application, approximately six months before the start date of program classes.
- LPN2RN Only - Complete the HESI exams with a comprehensive score of > 850.
- Please refer to the advanced placement policy on the website for detailed HESI exam information.
Additional information about math and English eligibility can be found on the College’s Course Placement page. If the applicant chooses to use the math placement exam to demonstrate eligibility, the score must be dated no more than two years prior to the application deadline. For example: for applications due February 15, 2027, math placement exam scores must be dated after February 15, 2025.
Admission into Nursing Programs is competitive due to space limitations. All Applicants will be evaluated using the same rubric.
